Persol use the Typewriter Collection to pay tribute to the typewriter. Thus, the design of each product within the range take inspiration from each moving part within a typewriter. For example, the lines on the temple tips represent the typing bars. Like all Persol products, the Typewriter range is handmade in Italy, this makes each product to some degree unique. Each individual product features an extra Melflecto cylinder. The addition of an extra cylinder encourages the temples to naturally widen to the face of the wearer. Therefore, adding an extra level of comfort. Furthermore, products within the Typewriter collection boast UV400 lenses. These lenses protect from UVA and UVB rays which can cause eye related health risks. The product also benefits from featuring polarized lenses. The polarization of the lens eliminates glare. Glare causes headaches, eye fatigue and washes out natural colors.
In addition to the frames, the 'Type Writer Edition' is embellished on the inside of the temples. Furthermore, this text is written in the classic American Typewriter font. American author, Bret Easton Ellis writer of American Psycho, co-wrote the campaign with Persol. Bret Easton Ellis also features in the advertisement for the collection. Subsequently, this puts Bret Easton Ellis in the midst of many famous figures who also promote the Persol brand.
