Here we introduce you to some common vision disorders, as well as some which are far rarer. Becoming familiar with the symtoms for a particular disorder may prevent a small problem becoming a major health issue. What is Myopia?

Shortsighted is the common term defining Myopia. Distant objects appear blurred, whereas a close object will look clear. Within your eye, the light focusses in front of the retina, this is too far forward and as a result, things in the distance seem blurred.

What is hypermetropia?

Longsighted is the common terms defining Hypermetropia, sometimes called hyperopia. Within the eye, light is focused too far back, causing things which are close up to appear blurred.

What is astigmatism?

Astigmatism occurs when the surface of the cornea lens is not spherical, meaning the eye has multiple points of focus. This means light fails to focus on the retina, but at multiple points.
