Sun, Sun and More Sun
Sometimes you need to retreat to the sun with a good book or two. Surrounded by views, good food and great weather to kick back and de-stress. Letting the woes of day to day life slide way. So to the air to our cheap hotels only a ferry apart.
We touch down, and the warm Med air fills our lungs and flows over our pale skin. The sun blasts down, and a true holiday feeling sinks in. After a check in and getting our bearings, a walk to stretch our legs is in order. It isn't long until views of the beautiful Mediterranean sea engulf our eyes. Calmly lashing against jagged rocks. The feelings of 'real life' melt into a pool of relaxation.
To Fill my Tum
A big part of my life orientates around food. It isn't always about the best. In fact, I'd rather go to an amazing burger bar rather than a Michelin Star restaurant. So stumbling across hearty plates of food during my time hoping around the Mediterranean was perfect. All diets out the window. After all, calories don't count on holiday do they?
Jim and I
Since buying my Maui Jim's at EyeWearThese I refer to them as Jim. It always seems a little funny when I turn to my partner and ask where I left Jim, and seeing strangers faces change thinking I've lost a child. But my Maui Jim's bring so much simple joy, they're more than a pair of sunglasses. They deserve to be humanized a little. They allow me to see the brightly colored world just like that. Other sunglasses I've worn previously don't posses this same power, and for that reason, I won't by anything but Maui Jim from now on.
Being able to take out time to sit back and look at the views in front is blissful. Especially being able to do everything in your own time makes everything easier. Oftentimes our busy lifestyles take over. Therefore leaving us with no time to stop, take a breath and take in the views this beautiful world has to offer. However, when I do, it is refreshing and a wholesome time to reflect on.
Back to Reality
On the plane back I sit planning all the washing and food shopping awaiting me. A glum ending I know. But as soon as my bum hits that budget airline seat, reality hurtles at me like a javelin released by an Olympian.
